Expedition Style Guidelines


All Challengers will complete the entire course without any preplanned help from land teams, pit crews or shore help except at designated cache locations. Cache locations will be outlined for each event prier to the start.


Challengers can take any means of help and assistance at designated cache locations including, but not limited to; food, water and gear resupply, assistance in camping and eating, automobile rides for resupply and/or lodging.


All water and/or portage miles will be completed under Challengers own human athletic power.


Any human powered carts, bikes, skates or scooters of any type can be used for portage miles of Challenge, but must be carried for the entire route. Challenger will be held to the rules of any public highway, road, trail or path that is used during the Challenge.


All Challengers will use watercraft based on traditional canoe, kayak or other small boat design. This does include outrigger canoes/kayaks, catamarans, trimarans or other multi hull or mono hull craft. There is no length or width restrictions to watercraft.


Portage miles will be outlined for each individual event before the start of the event. Only designated routes will be allowed for portage purposes.


Watercraft can only be powered by human paddle/peddle power and/or wind power.


All Challengers will be responsible for their own safety before, during and after the event.
